  The residents and staff members recently celebrated the birthday of one of the first residents of JSS' family medicine course, Dr. Gajanand. Everybody calls him Gaja. A simple, dedicated Maharashtrian whose work ethic intimidates most people around him. So, everybody gathered in a room to cut cake and celebrate his birthday. With 2 young kids in the guild at the party, the knife was obviously going to be wielded by them. After the routine pleasantries, people egged Gaja to sing. He finally yielded to the request only on the condition that everybody would join him. Generally selecting a song that everybody knows and agrees to is a big pain in these conditions, but not at JSS. It was like a natural choice to select their ‘anthem’ (unofficially). And 15 people in chorus started a beautiful song with extremely well intentioned lyrics.
