Blogging and me.
When I started blogging, i never thought of getting a decent audience. Being one of the 156 million public bloggers does not help your insecurity at all (2011 stats). But I have crossed the number 500 for all time 'blog views'! Yippee! A small start.
Whenever i used to put up a new post, I used to think about it all the time. What kind of response would it get and all that? I used to check the number of page views every couple of hours. It was like watching a plant grow. Watering everyday, checking its height from time to time. It was all fun, though a little time consuming.
Describing a blog as an 'open/public diary' (by my cousin) is the closest suitable definition i think. You write whatever you want! Even wiki describes it as the same, maybe it i a well accepted definition. My bad!
But blogging like social networking has great power to disseminate ideas/information. I like to read 'India Uncut' by Amit Verma and Rajdeep Sardesai's blog, Newsman. Travelogue (a cuss filled love letter to her husband is how she describes it! ha!) named Everywhereist, has been voted as the top blog by Time for the year 2011. There are thousands of blogs out there on a myriad of topics. Every author/writer/poet has one to herself/himself. I have got to know more about them since I started writing my own (Mis)Adventure.
Everyone who loves to write should try and write or at the least, read them.
What makes blog tick? Everyone is a voyeur or 'private life hungry'. Well, most of them! The same concept as social networking works. But blogs are less picturesque and more literary (except photo blogs). However not all blogs talk about private lives and are more subject related, daily affairs, politics, science etc.
So I wish to continue to talk about everything under the Sun in the future as i do not have any in depth knowledge about any one topic!
Thank for your reviews. Keep them coming!
